To my sweet third son,

Thank you and I’m sorry.

Thank you for enduring aggressive cuddles, snuggles, and kisses from your older brothers.

Thank you for being patient with them as they hand you toys and food.

Thank you for not crying at their frustration when they get upset that you’re not playing with whatever they gave you because they don’t understand that you can’t hold things yet.

Thank you for being patient while I change a diaper or wipe a butt.

Thank you for sitting and observing while I play with your two brothers.

Thank you for listening while I read a story you don’t understand.

Thank you for not crying when we’re in the car and we listen to the same song for the 8th time in a row (cuz mommy wants to cry!)

Thank you for falling asleep wherever we are – at the store, at a practice, strapped to me, or in the car. Your older brothers always got to sleep in a crib at nap time or at bed time.

Thank you for being patient with me and your dad and for adapting to OUR schedule.

I’m sorry that my time is spread so thin.

I’m sorry that I let you cry a little longer than expected so I can shower, go to the bathroom, clean something up, break up a fight, or cook something.

I’m sorry that your brothers are so flippin' loud and rambunctious that they always wake you up from your nap.

I’m sorry I can’t give you the sweet one on one time your older brothers got.

I’m sorry I drool in your hair whenever we fall asleep together the rocking chair, because I’m so tired.

I’m sorry that 90% of your things are hand me downs.

I’m sorry that I don’t have a small tinge of guilt leaving you and your brothers with a family member or a babysitter for a little bit for some adult conversation. When I just had your oldest brother, your dad and I NEVER went out because we didn’t trust anyone with our baby!

I’m sorry that my standard of nutrition has fallen significantly. When I was nursing your older brother, I was conscious of anything and everything I put in my body to ensure I was giving him the maximum amount of nutrients. With you, as long as I eat something… anything (fruit snacks, apple, bread crust.. lol!) and as long as you’re still latching and nursing– I call it a “win” in my book!

Thank you for loving this crazy family regardless. Thank you for your smiles, your laughs, your chubby baby cheeks, for rolling with the punches, and for sleeping through the night at two months old because I don’t know if I could’ve lasted another sleepless night.

LOOOOVE,

Mom.
