Ah summer. Sunblock, sun glasses, cold drinks, BBQs, and smelling like “outside”. When I was little, my mom would make me go shower after playing outside because I smelled like “sun” (or “araw” for any Filipinos!). In the summer, my parents really didn’t care what I did as long as I stayed alive and stayed hydrated. I would be running around barefoot, eating ice cream for lunch, and catching lightning bugs until 1AM. Mom would usually make me a drink called Melon (pronounced “meh-LON” – a yummy cantaloupe drink) and made sure I fell asleep in my bed and not like, in my yard or something. Those were the best summers! Now that I have kids of my own, I hope to give them that same, free spirited, nostalgic summer when they’re older. Since the oldest of my three kids is five, they’re stuck with me until they’re old enough to run amok in our neighborhood. But making sure they stay hydrated is important whether they’re five, in 5th grade, or fifteen.

A few weeks ago we loaded up the car and took a 10-hour road trip from Ft Knox, KY to Washington DC. We had snacks, drinks, books, movies, blankets, pillows, and stuffed animals – all the necessary items needed for a successful road trip. What do you get when you combine hot weather, traffic, three adults, a five-year-old, a SUPER PICKY toddler, and a two week old? A bad time.

Isaac, my almost two-year-old, has been very particular lately. Specifically, about milk. Basically, he needs to drink milk or else he’ll die. Dramatic. Welp, that’s my son for you. No, It can’t be water, lemonade, juice, or any other beverage – unless he’s in the mood for it. Toddlers, right?

Lo! And Behold! The Nuby 360 Insulated Wonder Cup. This bad boy holds 9oz of liquid and its insulated technology keeps liquid cold for… wait for it… UP. TO. SIX. HOURS.

We drove from our house near Ft. Knox, Kentucky to a hotel in West Virginia (the halfway point from KY to DC). It was a 5-hour drive and by the time we checked in and got into the room, the milk was still cold. I opened the lid and smelled to make sure It hadn’t spoiled and it was. still. good!

This cup is a summer God-send. Take it on road trips – long or short, to the park, to the beach, to the pool, on a walk… take it wherever it’s hot and your kid needs a cold drink. I have been taking it with us whenever we go for a walk in the stroller. Kentucky is humid so whatever time you go out in the summer either early morning or as the sun is setting, you’re sweating and you need a cold drink.

The 360 Wondercup allows your toddler to easily sip from any side of the rim without leaking or spills (perfect for road trips – has any one every had spilled milk in the car?! Yuck). The 9oz cup keeps drinks cold for up to 6 hours. You can get this amazingness at Babies R Us OR you can win one!!!

In honor of summer, free spirits, nostalgic feelings, smelling like “sun”, and staying hydrated, I have partnered up with Nuby to give a free Insulated 360 Wondercup to one of you!
