Well, hello there, June! You snuck up on me.
The birth of our 3rd kid has come and gone. Overall I had a pretty easy delivery, a pretty easy transition from two kids to three kids, but the 3rd C Section recovery was a little rough. I was up and walking but I almost did things too soon and had to take it easy for a few days. Caleb had his last day of preschool. I can’t believe I have a Kindergartener.
As I write this, we are in the middle of “recon” mission to DC to check out where we’re going to live, tie up some loose ends before we move, and attend a Welcome Weekend hosted by the Olmsted Foundation. We’ve got 10 hours of road ahead of us so I have lots of reflect on. Not much is happening in June other than my 28th Birthday (ayyyy!) and preparing for the move to DC.
I did a pretty horrible job sticking to my May Goals:
Eat Clean – if you mean I ate 4 pieces of pizza in one sitting off a clean plate, then hell yeah I ate clean!
Get moving – I’m taking walks with the double stroller as much as I can around the neighborhood and doing easy work like cleaning the house. I’m still recovering so I don’t want to do too much.
Wear make up more often – I did a really good job with this at the beginning of the month, but after I delivered Lucas I wore make up like… 3 times. LOL
Don’t be afraid to ask for help – I asked for ALL the help! My poor husband and mom basically did everything for the me and the kids.
Calm down – Again, I’m a really intense person. I wasn’t as “calm” as I wanted to be about some things but it’s a step in the right direction!
Here are my June Goals:
Be Patient: Adjusting to the new normal will take some time. I’m one to prematurely flip out on my kids or on my husband about some things (like jumping on the couch or slamming the door) so taking things one day at a time and understanding the situation before freaking out is something that I need to be better about doing.
Wear Make Up More Often: This is totally superficial and a goal from last month, but I feel like I’m so much more productive if I actually do my hair and make up.
Finish my Book: I’m reading “The Girl with All The Gifts” and I can’t get past the first chapter. It’s such a slow read for me and I can’t get into the book. I’m one of those people that will suffer through a bad book just so I can finish it before picking up another book to read, don’t ask me why! LOL
Eat some sort of vegetable with every meal: I had this “Eat Clean” goal last month that I totally ignored. So lets just lower standards just a bit and make sure to have a vegetable with every meal/snack. Pizza with veggies? Cool. Burger with lettuce? Okay. But for real, I’m going to at least try and substitute salad instead of fries and throw a bit of spinach when I eat eggs in the AM.
Buy only what is needed: With three kids and a move, money isn’t going to be as free flowing as it has been in the past. No I don’t need shoes, no I don’t need a skirt, or another sun dress. I’m trying to get rid of half of our stuff in our house so we can downsize from a house into an apartment, our family doesn’t need any more things!
Walk Everyday: Now that I am no longer growing a human and feeling much better, I want to begin walking every day and hopefully extend my walks so they get longer and longer. I won’t be cleared for exercise until the end of the month so I won’t jump into something intense like boxing or lifting – not even yoga, just yet. I’m two and a half weeks postpartum and walking with the kids in the double stroller for about 15 minutes while Caleb rides his bike. I hope to start walking at least 2 or 3 miles by the time I’m 6 weeks postpartum.
Be more diligent with my blogging schedule: I get that I’m going through lots of life changes right now, but sticking to a schedule and staying organized is more important than ever. If I skip a day or two of writing, I don’t want it to turn into a slippery slope of just not blogging ever.
What are some of your goals for the month of June?
